Why Not…?

August 11, 2008 | Something to Chew On

I just received an email from one of my good friends who is currently in Australia serving as a missionary of sorts. In the email he described how God was working in his life and how God has been stretching him in his trust of God’s plan. As I read this, my heart rejoices that God is choosing to work in his life.

And at the same time, I step back to evaluate what God is doing in my life. I choose to take a look at what God is doing to show me more of Himself. And I arrogantly respond in my mind, “God isn’t doing anything with me! Why can’t I be found in the midst of what God has chosen me for?” It’s usually these times, and they seem to come often for me, when God is really transforming my mind. I can’t tangibly see what God is doing, so I feel disappointed and discouraged. But God is continually working on me, I am a continual work in progress, I’m not there yet.

So keep your chin up. Even if you can’t see where and what God is doing in your life, doesn’t mean he’s not doing anything.

Too Much?

August 10, 2008 | Discussions, Something to Chew On

We all have heard that you can’t have too much of a good thing. And most of us would probably agree with that statement. But does it cross all lines of living? Does this old adage remain true even into our daily lives, the friends we have?

I ran across a comment on a blog that I frequent that said something to the effect of “you can’t have too many Christian friends.” What do you think?

Can you have too many Christian friends?

I ran across this video again and I couldn’t pass up sharing it with everyone. The story is so powerful. Stop for a moment and think of the things that are getting in your way of worshipping God today.

Just Checking In

July 16, 2008 | Missions, Something to Chew On, Worship, Youth

Hey guys! It seems as though I’ve dropped off the face of blogworld, but alas, I am still here. Sorry for the prolonged absence.

I am going to be gone next week to a camp in Davis, OK called Falls Creek. I will be helping to engage youth from a small church in Ft. Worth in worship. I am totally excited and ready to lead these youth. So I ask for your prayers for the trip as well as the week; that the sponsors and leadership would be available for the youth that are coming to experience God first hand.

Also, remember Denise in your prayers as she will be traveling the latter part of the week to her sister’s wedding up in New York.

Do you know someone who doesn’t know Christ? How is your life causing them to wonder what makes you different?

A Pleasant Surprise

Empty Buildings EPI ended up at an unexpected concert tonight at Stonewood Coffee and Tea Co. in Broken Arrow. A couple of Singer/Songwriters played an amazing concert. If you like folk music, you definitely want to check these guys out.

This is one of the albums that Denise and I bought. The name is Empty Buildings. It is by Catherine Feeny. She also wrote a song called Mr. Blue that is pretty good. But anyway, great concert, check her out!
